“Welk Resort Theatre is proud to present an all-new production of Million Dollar Quartet, based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session where Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” brought together icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night.

The show will run March through December. On December 4, 1956, Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records in Memphis and the man who discovered and started their careers, brought together the four legends-to-be for the only time in their lives, for what has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time. Featuring the greatest rock ‘n’ roll, gospel, R&B and country hits from these music legends, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Walk The Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Hound Dog,” and “Whole Lotta’ Shakin’ Goin’ On,”

Million Dollar Quartet tells the story and captures the high energy spirit and rockin’ sounds of a unique moment when four of music’s most extraordinary talents, all in their creative prime, came together for one of the most memorable nights in music history.”

Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

1601 Broadway Blvd.
Kansas City, MO 64108
816-994-7200
Visit Official Website

“The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is a mega-modern, state-of-the-art facility encompassing two awe-inspiring performance venues: The Muriel Kauffman Theatre and the Helzberg Hall.

The Muriel Kauffman Theatre seats 1,800 in ultra-plush, 22- and 24-inch wide seats, which include the Figaro supertitle system; a monitor mounted on the back of each seat shows the words sung or spoken by performers onstage. Patrons decide if they want to see the titles, and then they select the language of their choice for their individual screen.

In the oval-shaped Helzberg Hall, the stage extends into the auditorium, thus placing 40 percent of the 1,600 seats alongside the stage. The distance from the stage to Helzberg Hall’s farthest seat is slightly more than 100 feet. Helzberg Hall has a 5,548-pipe Casavant Freres pipe organ; one of the finest concert-organs in the country.

These theatres host Broadway production companies, renowned orchestras and bands, top national and international entertainers, artists and performance troupes. Also, the Kauffman Center serves as the home performance venue for the Kansas City Ballet, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra.

The Kauffman Center is located on Broadway Avenue, just south of the Power & Light District and the Sprint Center.”
