History of Route 66
Route 66 is a winding highway that goes from Chicago to Los Angeles and passes right through the state of Missouri. It was considered a “pathway of hope” for people to follow toward a more successful life than what they had. Route 66 was actually named at a christening in Springfield, MO back in 1926! Even though new interstates have given travelers a more direct route to their ultimate destinations, some still enjoy driving Route 66 and enjoying the beautiful scenery and fun things to do along the way. In fact, according to Visit Missouri, over 200,000 people drive the route every year.
