This historic Victorian home was built in 1877 and is among the finer places for a get-away weekend or a longer family celebrations. Standing majestically on one corner of the Versailles' town square, Hilty Inn transports guests to late 1800 America.
The Inn offers peaceful sitting porches, sunny windows with lace curtains, pristine original pine floors and a lovely wood staircase that ascends to the comfortable second-floor bedrooms.
Inn Keeper Doris Hilty's hospitality makes every guest feel treasured. Her design sense artistically touches the property. Each room is a showcase for antiques, collectibles and Victorian decor.
Everywhere throughout the property are freshly cut flowers. Their scent sweetens the air; their blooms bring gardens to life indoors.
Guests enjoy a darling parlor with comfortable sofas, an antique piano and plenty of books for history lovers to snuggle in and read about the rich Morgan County history. There is a quiet sitting room upstairs for private conversations.
Doris invites guests to the island to chat while she cooks. Later, she will serve breakfast in the dining room on a table that has been carefully set with good china. She will also watch her guests' progress and fill cups with hot coffee or glasses with cold juice as they empty, all while engaging guests in conversation. High tea & dinner can be ordered by reservation, as well farm to table dinners by Chef Charles.
A lovely courtyard with a fountain and flowers awaits guests who prefer outdoor breakfasts in the fresh air. Doris loves meeting people, decorating, cooking and serving. She believes innkeeping is not only a fine profession, it's the right one for her, and it shows in every amenity in the polished, comfortable spaces.
