If you are planning a getaway to the St. Louis area, consider an Augusta, MO bed and breakfast for your lodging accommodations especially if you like wine tasting. This is the wine country of Missouri, the first federally designated viticulture area in the U.S.
There are several wineries in the area including Mount Pleasant Winery, Louis P. Balducci Vineyards, and Augusta Winery. Take a tour and taste the wine as well as some local culinary treats while taking in the view of the bluffs of the Missouri River. If wine doesn’t appeal to you, Augusta Micro Brewery is new to the area.
Among other activities, you can ride a bike on the scenic Katy Trail which is the longest “National Rails-to-Trails” project.
Other interesting sites in the area are the Daniel Boone Home and The Lewis and Clark Trail.
